I chose to take this class because I was in Multimedia in 7th and 8th grade so I thought why not expand my photography knowledge? So that’s exactly what I did this trimester. I realized how much more I learned in this class and how much harder it was than Multimedia. I think this class was harder because we learned about more than just one camera, all the parts of the camera, what all of the settings are and what ones to use in the situation you’re in, different composition techniques, and learned how to do really cool things in photoshop that I always wanted to know how to do and I never thought I would be able to do them. This class definitely helped me as a photographer because I know way more now than when I did when I walked through these doors on September sixth. When I first started I had no idea what an ISO was, or that you need to think about so many things before taking a quality photo. I also didn’t know one thing about photoshop and how many things you could do with it. I’m not the best photographer now but I’m way better now than before. The first day we had to take pictures I didn't think about anything and I just shot the picture. I also didn't change any settings, as a matter of fact I didn't even know what the majority of them were. One thing I learned in photoshop was that you need to pay attention and take it slow because a lot can go wrong if you rush through it. A couple things I have learned while taking photos are making sure you have all the correct settings, use a composition technique so it makes the photo more interesting, and to take more than one picture because you could have missed something in the first one or the picture is just not that great so you could potentially have a much better one if you take more than one. Here are two examples from how I've changed as a photographer this trimester. beginning of the trimester: End of the trimester:

For this assignment we went in front of the bus loop and Mr.Bush rode his bike around it multiple times so we could take pictures. We had to point our camera to where he was then focus it and then follow him while he was riding, then take the picture when he was in front of us and keep following him until he was done. I learned that this was harder than I thought, and we may have to make adjustments that aren't ideal in order to get the motion in the background, and that Mr.Bush can ride really fast.
For this assignment we had to go around the school or at home and take multiple pictures of you or someone else in a different pose for every picture, you also had to take a picture of just the setting with nobody in it. I learned to not rush and take your time or else the pictures may be blurry.
For the last photo assignment I shot the category nature. I tried to make this the best one since it was the last one but I unfortunately don't feel like it was. I actually took a few of these photos at a restaurant with my friend while waiting for our food. The other ones were in the woods at my neighborhood park. I learned that there's other things to nature besides trees and grass (even though most of mine have to do with trees) and you can do cool things with the other things that have to do with nature. For the editing of my best photo I turned the saturation up and slightly the vibrance. Aperture: f/2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/1250 ISO: 500 During this assignment I learned quite a few things about photoshop. Most of it I already knew and just didn't realize I knew all of it. This was a challenging tutorial for me but I'm glad I did it.
This week I shot photos for the category of food. My dad took Ella & I to downtown Ann Arbor so I could take photos and eat at the Gandy Dancer. During this assignment a lot of people were looking at me weirdly because I was walking around taking multiple photos of the buffet. For my best photo I had my little sister hold up a black napkin so there wasn't a distracting background. I also put powered sugar, whipped cream, and a cherry on it so the photo would look better because I don't even like those toppings. For the editing of my best photo I turned the saturation up the slightest bit. I learned how to fix the negative f-stops on my camera. Best Photo Aperture: f/2.8 Shutter Speed:1/30 ISO:400 For this assignment we had to take normal pictures of something around the school and then put unexpected and fun things in the photo using photoshop.
For this assignment we had to go around the school or somewhere at home and take 3 quality panoramas. In order to get the panoramic effect he had to use a tripod and take the photos in sections. We had to get about 1/3 of the object that was in the last picture in the current picture so photoshop can stitch them together. I learned throughout this assignment that you need to be patient and keep problem solving until you get it right. This week, my dad and I went to downtown Ann Arbor after dance so I could take pictures of architecture. We drove around (because it was too cold to walk) until I found buildings that were cool or interesting to take pictures of. I went to a few different buildings and took the photos from many different angles. For the editing I slightly turned up the saturation and sometimes the vibrance, I did a few other things also but not to my best photo. I learned to look at my photos carefully after I take them because they may turn out different than you think. Best Photo Aperture: f/6.3 Shutter Speed:1/25 ISO: 100 For this assignment, we had to get in a group of three and take two different pictures, one with window lighting and one with the professional lighting Mr.Bush set up. For the window picture we had to have one person be the subject, one holding the bouncer, and one taking the photo. For the more professional one we just needed a subject and a photographer.
